November 16, 2012

This week we wrote in our journals about which country we would like to visit.

We learned about the Mayflower.  We found out that it was REALLY small for 102 passengers.  We learned the Pilgrims couldn't change their clothes during their journey.  When they landed they still had to build their houses.  The Pilgrims worked hard every day but Sunday.  We found out that they brought some animals on the voyage.  The Pilgrims wear MANY layers of clothes.   They brushed their clothes instead of washing them everyday, and generally only the boys went to school.  If a spark flew out of the chimney, it may set the roof on fire.  The Wampanoag people helped the Pilgrims.  They milked goats.

We had a nice week!

This week we learned about the Pilgrims, the Mayflower, and the First Thanksgiving.  We learned someone got thrown overboard on the Mayflower, but he was saved!  We found out the king made the Pilgrims worship God the way he wanted to, so the Pilgrims left.  The children were responsible for emptying the chamber pot.  The Mayflower was very crowded and not made for 102  passengers.

We are able to take home our clay dinosaurs and owls.

We now have iPads and we can play on them.

We had a nice week!

November 2, 2012

This week we got a special snack for Halloween.  It was Skittles and cookies.

Last Friday night the middle school put on a Haunted House.

We finished the chapter book, Bunnicula and started a new one, Thanksgiving on Thursday.

We finished our unit on dinosaurs and are starting to learn about the first Thanksgiving.

We made monsters in Art.  The monsters were funny, not scary.

Our writing is improving in our Journals.

We had a test about dinosaurs.

We had a nice week!
